Markowe Szczawiny

Dotarliśmy pod samą Babią Górę, a tu nowe (wciąż nowe, choć lata lecą) schronisko na Markowych. Ja ciągle jeszcze pamiętam to stare, a nawet noclegi w goprówce, gdy zimą docieraliśmy tam o dziwnych porach z deskami na plecach. Cofając się dużo bardziej, patrzę na fotografię z przełomu lat 20/30  XXw – z okolicy schroniska , a także prawdopodobnie z okien na pierwszym piętrze bez problemu widać było nie tylko szczyt ale całe masywne cielsko „Królowej”. Powstało zaś nasze schronisko w 1906 r. Małe,o wymiarach 7 x10m ,z inicjatywy Towarzystwa Tatrzańskiego jako przeciwwaga dla obiektów budowanych przez Beskidenverein.

Mountain chalet in Markowe Szczawiny located on a small clearing near the highest peak of the Beskids – Babia Góra (1725 m). The small building (was established in 1906) was rebuilt several times until the Second World War. In those days the forest was thinned here and you could admire the northern slopes of Babia Góra from the shelter.  Currently there is a large and comfortable mountain shelter surrounded by a dense forest and this is the closest resting place before the attack on the Diablak (Devil’s Peak).
